Margaret Watson 1899 - 1997

This is a photo of my grandmother. My uncle Bob took the photo in the 1980's and I added a dry brush paint effect to the color. ~Sue

Young Lowell

This is a photo of my dad from the 1940's. It was a black and white photo and I selectively colored it and cleaned it up a bit. ~Sue

Cooper's Hawk

Pam took this photo the other day. We hate when this Cooper's Hawk comes around and snatches one of our birds from the feeder.

Curiousity

I don't know who took this photo but I would love to give them credit for it. It arrived in a forwarded email. I love it!

Depressed Cat

Do they make anti-depressants for animals?

Miracle on 34th Street

Linda Leigh (Sue Cheek's mom) on the far left ... with her sister, Carol, sitting on Santa's lap. Linda reminds me of Natalie Wood in Miracle on 34th Street.

Dropped Off Kitten Has Found a Home

"Little Miss Muffet" or Missy (for short) has found a home in Chardon with a nice, loving retired couple. Her last name is Watson. Some of you can probably guess who adopted the abandoned kitten.

New Kitten Meets the Family

Another kitten was dropped off in front of our house 2 days ago! This is the 7th cat we have taken in and found a home for. It was snowy and cold but she was smart enough to approach the house and meow at the windows. We took her to the vet and they estimate that she is 10 weeks old. She was starving. We gave her lots of TLC and have found a nice home for her (elsewhere). She will be relocating today.

Location, Location, Location

Can you imagine a bird telling another bird where they live? "Fly into Garrettsville, look for the Rite-Aid store downtown. If you fly around to the back, you will see a drive-thru for the pharmacy. I live in between the K and the U, just above the dash in the word PICK-UP."

I Pledge Allegiance

Lately I have become concerned about the people I represent. I no longer see the Pride in your eyes that I once saw when I traveled down your streets in the Veteran's Day parades and on the 4th of July. The people that once saluted me and those that held their hand over their heart as I passed now just look around to see what others are doing. Could it be that they don't see me? This is what it must be, because I haven't changed. I am still the same flag that accompanied so many of our countrymen as they defended this great country.

Colorful Setting for this Gravesite

AMOS F. HANNAH, hotel keeper, Nelson, was born in Nelson Township, Portage County, January 3, 1836, the second in a family of four children born to John and Clarissa (Foot) Hannah, natives of Connecticut and Massachusetts, respectively. John Hannah came to Ohio in 1813, lost his wife in 1844, and subsequently married Susan Hannah, who now resides with her step-son; John Hannah died in 1872. Our subject was married, in 1861, to Maria L. Clark, a native of Nelson, who has borne him five children, only two of whom, Archie and Ruby, are living. Mr. Hannah followed the occupation of a farmer until the spring of 1877, when he purchased the "Cascade House," erected in 1868 by H.L. Bancroft, at Nelson Ledges, one of the most romantic spots in Northern Ohio, which has become a very popular summer resort, and under Mr. Hannah's able management the business of this hotel has steadily increased.
